Fun Free Activities

couch cushion fort

Here are a list of some of my favorite (free) activities.

Build a fort out of blankets, pillows…anything else you can think of.

Pretend to camp indoors, either in your fort or in a tent set up in the living room. Bring a flashlight and some books for story time and shadow puppets.

Have a picnic. Indoor, outdoors, wherever. Children love it. Again, you could bring a book and do stories, or a board game, whatever your family enjoys.

Prepare a meal together. Children love helping and are more likely to try something new if they’ve had a hand in preparing it. Baking cookies is always a safe option as well 🙂

Put on some happy music and have a “dance party”. Teach your children the slide, the shopping cart, and the sprinkler. This is sure to erupt tons of laughter from everyone involved.

Play dress up. You can dress as Pirates, or Spies with things you already have at the house.

Make up a story together. You can go back and forth or in a circle, and if you’re feeling especially enthusiastic you could write it out, and have the children draw pictures for it.

Play Cops and Robbers in the backyard, or at the park. Pretend you’re a kid again.

At the end of all of this enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or wine, and for good measure maybe a little chocolate.

Enjoy
